Juvederm Ultra Plus is an FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler to treat deep wrinkles, lines and folds around the nasolabial area of the face. It is also used on the lips, periorbita (area around the eye) and even the hands. Because Juvederm Ultra Plus is a clear gel, it looks extremely natural, especially when used to add volume to the lips.
Juvederm Ultra Plus consists of a thicker “liquid” when compared to its sister product, Juvederm Ultra. Because of the increased thickness in the product, the results are much longer lasting and give Ultra Plus a leg up on the competition.
Juvederm Ultra is also an FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler but treats less serious wrinkles and folds. Similar to Juvederm Ultra Plus, it is a clear gel and contains naturally occurring ingredients found in the body. This feature increases the longevity of the product and the amount of injections needed to fix a “problem area”. Patients have reported seeing their results last up to 1 year, which is significantly longer than some of the other products on the market today. One main difference between Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus is how deep the injection into the dermis is. Because Juvederm Ultra Plus is injected deeper into the dermis, it is able to reach more prominent lines and wrinkles. Juvederm Ultra is injected into the surface of the dermis, making it a great option for problem areas that are not extensive.
As mentioned, Juvederm Ultra is thinner and less of a gel than Ultra Plus. If you’re looking to change the look of fine lines and wrinkles and even scars, consider going with Juvederm Ultra. Many of our patients choose to go with this product where smaller volume has been lost.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring property in the body, which is why many dermal fillers usually contain this compound. Juvederm Ultra Plus is one of the top dermal fillers on the market, and for good reason. Juvederm Ultra Plus also lasts longer because it does not degrade in the body as quickly. This is due to the cross-linking properties, which are 8% in Ultra Plus, compared to 6% in Juvederm Ultra. Because of the naturally occurring ingredients, both are absorbed by the body slower than other dermal fillers on the market.
Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus are approved to be used in conjunction with lidocaine – a local anesthetic.
